Stephanie from Blackbird Photography asked me if I would do the hair and makeup for a bridal shoot she was doing. It took me all of 3 seconds to say YES!! YES! PICK ME! Which was super awkward since she kinda already had. It was to specifically showcase her mad skillz as a photographer, and to launch the new bridal hairpiece line for the very talented Kaysi who owns the Etsy shop London Raquel. Since she was having 3 models for the shoot, I asked my friend Talisia (who was also one of the models!) to help a girl out.
First of all, these girls are BEAUTIFUL. Like, thankyouJesus beautiful. They were a dream to show up and work on. We seriously ended up having a blast. We jammed to music, ate lotsa yummy fruit, and played in makeup...what more could you ask for? A million dollars, that's what. But I didn't.
ANYWAYS: Talisia and I were excited because we hadn't seen 2 of the 3 dresses, or most of the hairpieces/jewelry until we got there. It wath a thurprise. Sometimes it's fun to think on your feet and go with the flow. Who knew?
Okay so for Shikeyah, or Shikay-kay as I call her (oh nope, I don't) we decided on a really deep, bold lip with a more subtle golden eye. No bottom liner, no bottom mascara. We also wanted an "undone" look, so I fishtailed the shnaz out of her hair (plus some extensions...shhh) and pulled out pieces and roughed it up a little.
She is so beautiful it's gross.
Isn't that dress stunning? Yes, is the answer. Yes it is.
Kaysi from London Raquel also has a line of wedding garters. Word.
For Brooke we were going to do a high bun and mess the poo out of it, but she had some extensions already in her hair that would have shown had we done that. Sad face. So we slapped in some longer extensions in a variety of colors (for some dimension) and "bed head" curled it. We wanted her eyes to be the focus so we smoked em out and did more of a natural lip. (not sure why I'm explaining this step by step, it's pretty obvious when you look at the pictures, but it makes me feel more important)
This gorgeous girl has three kids. THREE. CHILDREN. 3. Tres leches! Wait...
For Talisia I did another bold lip and subtle cat eyes. Me-ow. It just felt right in my heart. Then I threw the headband hairpiece over her crown and braided sections tucking them back into the headband. (picture at the end to show this a little better) Then of course pulling out random pieces to mess it up a bit.
Can you believe miss Shikeyah doesn't ever wear bold lips??? I know. I literally Hail Mary'd myself and I made her promise me, if she really loved me, that she would every now and then. Those lips deserve better :)
This was a bridesmaids look. Can we give that dress a moment? Mint AND pleats? Why you gotta be all perfect like that?
These next three pics are my own from Instagram of "behind the scenes". Cuz I'm cool like that.
Close up of Talisia's updo. Braids are perty.
Aaaaaand we're done. Fun times. Isn't Stephanie (owner at Blackbird Photography) amazing?? Shikeyah booked her for her real life wedding after seeing these pictures. She gooooood. She real good.

Hoppy Easter!
Guys. Don't act like you don't love the title. I don't care who you are - that's cuteness happening right there. CUTENESS.
Guess what else is cute?
If you said Nash, you are officially my 3rd favorite person. Fourth if you count Tori Spelling (lucky for you, I didn't).
Can I just say how much more fun holidays are for me now that I have a lil' nug running around? It has literally changed everything for me. I'm going to be that mom that's like "It's PRESIDENTS DAY!!!!!" as I serve a cake in the shape of Uncle Sam's head while we play Bingo with the faces of presidents passed. Maybe that will only happen in my head, but you get the idea. Holidays are fun. And I'm all about traditions and creating some awesome memories for me and my little family.
We started out on friday coloring some eggies.
Getting the dye started!
He felt suuuuper cool helping daddy
Just a smidge excited
N.....you know, for Nash.
Dino eggs!
I made cupcakes! Pink lemonade...
...with pink lemonade buttercream frosting. My first time with buttercream frosting. I loved it, but it did not love me back. Awe. It went from the middle cupcake, to the one on the right, to finally the one on the left. Me not good at frosting :(
I also made this beast. Oreo peanut butter goodness. Yeah. There is a two bite limit because IT WILL KILL YOU DEAD.
Just a random picture of a tree in my backyard. It just said "Easter" to me.
We went to my dad's for our annual Easter egg hunt on saturday. This is just part of the spread.
For no other reason than because it's funny.
Spotting the egg! This is only the beginning of Nash overload.
Buckle up.
It took him all of .2 seconds to figure out the concept. It is his favorite thing to do after all...put things in anything that will hold things. Or put things in things that aren't supposed to hold things. Waaaay fun at our house.
Tim Tebowing it.
Sneaky sneaky.
Easter bum's are cute.
The kids. And to answer your question...yeah, it's weird sometimes. But only when I'm like, "Nash! Give that toy back to your uncle right now, that's HIS lego set." You know, then.
Also, Nash kept stealing the other kids' eggs and putting them in his own basket while we were trying to take this picture. He know's how to get it done.
Yoink.
Spoiler alert: only one of these people are actually pregnant. Way.
Ky with a cupcake! Score, they're edible! (at least to 4 year olds)
The Easter morning we "hid" Nash's basket. I say "hid" because Kevin threw a blanket over it and called it good. I guess that works for a 14 month old :)
You bet those are Halloween jams on Easter morning. We don't discriminate.
First Peep! Not so much a fan.
Then we went to my moms later that day for Easter dinner.
She gone done decorated!
I decorated those. (nope)
My mom made these cute lil' guys.
Then she had this cute "Giant Easter Egg" popping game with prizes inside. The kids LOVED it! They won things like candy, money, and tattoos. Nothing says Easter like a good old fashioned inking.
Trying to pop some balloons!
So hard core right now.
Whew! No lie, that was only 1/10th of the pictures I took. Anyways, we really did have such a great Easter weekend. Love me some holidays!! And above all else, the TRUE meaning of Easter :)
